Food Processing Industry Overview:
Vietnam's food processing industry comprises around 260 sea food-processing plants (the country is a major exporter), with an annual production capacity of 250,000 tons, 24 slaughter houses and meat-processing plants, 160 beverage plants, 65 fruit- and vegetable-processing plants, manufacturing instant noodles and 23 confectionery manufacturers. Despite a significant proportion of processed food being imported, consumption of imported produce remains fairly low in the country - although it has increased inthe main poppulation centers of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. |
